In 1999 we formed an Alumni group to encourage and promote ongoing healing in reconciled couples. Since that time we have designed a quarterly newsletter especially for our ever-growing list of healed couples. We know that continued support and prayer is needed, and are pleased to add this new page especially for our Covenant Couples. Click on the logo above to go to the Covenant Couples page.

AN OPEN LETTER TO SPOUSES OF COVENANT KEEPERS FROM A FORMER PRODIGAL

Bob and Charlyne Steinkamp of Rejoice Ministries have attended many Covenant Keepers annual conferences. At one conference several years ago the Lord gave Bob the following letter during the opening session. The Steinkamps were to share about their healed marriage at a later session, but Bob became violently ill and spent six days in a local hospital where he received many bad reports. Through intercession, the devil’s plans were destroyed, and they flew home with good reports, leaving the doctors wondering what happened!

Dear friend,

I’ve spent this past weekend getting to know someone who once was quite special to you: your mate. You might have suspected that I would have met a weak and defeated person, one who no one would want to be around. Quite the contrary.

When I met the person that you once married, I met a warm and glowing individual, full of God’s love and full of hope. Yes, I saw some hurt, but it was tempered by unconditional love. In fact, I met a person that you might not even recognize. I heard many times during the weekend of your mate’s unconditional love for you, a love that continues to exist regardless of the past, a love that will always be there in the future.

My friend, eight years ago my life was like yours today. I was divorced and trying to make it all work out with someone new. I thought I had adjusted to our divorce; I believed my mate had not. My mate refused to accept that the court had issued a divorce decree. She took a stand for the restoration of our marriage and our home. All the hurts that I had caused during our marriage were given to God my spouse. The Lord took her hurting love and gave her in exchange an unconditional love for me.

After much heartache, trying to live right side up in the upside down world of divorce, I made a discovery. Everything that I was seeking was waiting for me at home. If your life is complicated and there seems no way out, I have a suggestion: turn to the two who love you most, your standing mate and the Lord Jesus Christ. Neither will let you down. He cares and I care.

A former prodigal,

Bob Steinkamp

P.S. If things are painful for you right now, I understand, because you are having labor pains for the birth of your restored marriage. Many are praying that you might turn your heart toward home.

CALL UNTO ME
BY MARILYN CONRAD

We cannot pray or do spiritual warfare effectively without insight into how to pray. Just as we must have a rhema word from God for the healing of our marriages (Hebrews 11:1), God also gives us revelation knowledge when we do spiritual warfare and intercession.

In Jeremiah 33:3 we are told to “call to me and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” In the Amplified version the verse reads, “Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know [do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of or understand].” The word mighty in Hebrew is better rendered “isolated” or “inaccessible.” When we pray, God will give us revelation knowledge or insight into things that would otherwise be inaccessible or isolated.

God promises that if we will call out to Him, He will answer us. And His answer will contain the knowledge and insight we need to pray, information that in the natural we normally cannot access.

Many times, insight is brought about by God giving scriptures to pray over the person or situation. For example, once I was praying about the stubbornness prevailing in a situation. As I broke the power of that stubbornness, I found myself using my hand like a hammer breaking up something. I remembered Jeremiah 23:29 that describes God’s Word as a fire and a hammer. I was prompted to look up the verse in the Amplified Bible and was amazed at the rendering of the words. It reads, “Is not My word like fire [that consumes all that cannot endure the test]? says the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks in pieces the rock [of most stubborn resistance]?” (Bold print is the author’s.)

I knew that as I prayed God’s Word over the situation that His Word was working just like a hammer, breaking up that stubborn resistance. “For with God nothing is ever impossible, and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment.” Luke 1:37

God gave promises to Jeremiah of what would happen if he would call to Him. One such promise is in verse 33:11: "There shall be heard again] the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voices of those who sing as they bring sacrifices of thanksgiving into the house of the Lord, Give praise and thanks to the Lord of hosts, for the Lord is good; for His mercy and kindness and steadfast love endure forever! For I will cause the captivity of the land to be reversed and return to be as it was at first, says the Lord." AMP

These promises are for us also! Once my pastor had this word for me, “You have been waging the warfare on the front lines, but I say now, there shall be even a greater thrusting forth. Now the day that you see coming for you, you are going to see victory after victory after victory. For you have toiled and labored and sown and planted. But now the Lord says,'I am going to begin to bring this one and that one and the other one for whom you have toiled and labored and warred, and you shall begin to see the abundance of the harvest. Oh, the day that I launch you into at this time is going to be glorious,' saith the Lord. 'And for those who shall come forth, that shall be in very great labor and pain, I am going to add to you two intercessors for each hard case,' saith the Lord. 'For you shall see the battle won, and you are going to declare it around the world,' declareth the Lord.”

We have seen this prophecy come to pass, and we are experiencing the abundance of the harvest. If you have not already done so, I encourage you to call out to God and allow Him to reveal to you the hidden and fenced-in things that you do not know or understand.

His promise is that He will reverse the captivity of the land return it to its original state. Our homes and families will be healed and restored! Once again there will be gladness and joy as the captives are returned.
