Speaking Truth in Love

Ephesians 4:14-16 (ESV)  “So that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” In Matthew Henry’s commentary of the Bible, he says, […]

You Are a Bucket

In John 4 we learn that Jesus and the disciples had been in Judea and were going to Galilee. Most Jews in order to not come in contact with Samaritans would have gone out of their way to not walk through Samaria. But Jesus wanted to go to Samaria because He had an appointed time with a woman at a well. Because Jews believed that they would be ceremonially unclean if they used a vessel handled by a Samaritan, the woman expressed surprise that Jesus asked her for a drink. She must have wondered what Jesus intended for her to […]

The Battle Belongs To the Lord

Every believer standing for their marriage should burn the practical truths of James chapter 4 in their hearts. It speaks of why we fall; and how we can be lifted up. The Breakup: What causes wars and what causes fighting among you? Is it not that your passions are at war against your members? You desire and do not have; so you kill, and you covet and cannot obtain; so you fight and wage war. Sounds like a spat to me. For those who have gone through the pains of marital battles, this is not nation pitted against nation, but […]

Thoughts On A Softened Heart

  • By Covenant Keepers, Inc.
  • March 20, 2017

At the 2015 Midwest Retreat and Leadership Workshop we gave a talk on “Softened Hearts” and this is a recap and summary on the topic. I am resurrecting the topic now because there are quite a few of you who have been on my mind for some time. If you are one of them, you may not even know that you need to hear this. Today we are talking about four issues of a “softened heart:”  What is it? How do I get it? How do I keep it? How do I use it? Psalm 51:10 (ESV) says, Create in […]

Faith Is Always Forged in the Fire

“…when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8b Years ago when I was standing for the healing of our marriage, I had no idea what God was doing. I was dealing with pain, rejection, and shame. I wanted to be whole and healthy and I wanted to see my marriage healed. Looking back now I realize how limited my vision was and how small I had made our God. While I approached my situation from a somewhat selfish point of view, God was looking at it with a much larger vision. Back […]

Tis the Season – Guard Your Heart

  • By Covenant Keepers, Inc.

The Christmas season is perhaps the hardest time of the year for covenant keepers. There are the traditional family gatherings that perhaps you no longer feel comfortable attending if your spouse’s family is involved. Or there may be gatherings in which you long to be included but are no longer invited. The issues of which gatherings your children will attend and who else will be in attendance are to be considered. With all the emotional wrappings of this season – guard your heart. Satan and his workers are busily striving to sow seeds of resentment, anger, discord, disillusionment, jealously, greed, […]

A Tribute to a Beloved Covenant Keeper

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of CKI Board member and precious friend, Gary Routon. Gary went home to be with the Lord as a result of a motorcycle accident near his hometown of Newberg, OR, on September 28, 2016. While we rejoice in the comfort of knowing Gary is now experiencing the joy of the Lord in ways we can only imagine, we are mindful of the impact of the loss of fellowship with this dear saint who meant so much to so very many. Gary and Debbie had a restored marriage from which they […]

The Northeast Region met for our Yellow Ribbon Day on Saturday, November 5th at the home of Koji and Deana Bell in Telford, PA. All of us were warmly welcomed by the Bells and immediately felt at home in the comforting, guiding presence of the Holy Spirit. First we shared snacks and visited, catching up with each other and finding out what the Lord has been doing in our lives. We were so blessed just to be together. Alberta, Starr, Mary, Esther and Colleen came from towns in Pennsylvania. Nancy, Pat and Marjie drove down from Connecticut. Mary Lou came over […]

Do You Believe?

  • By Covenant Keepers, Inc.

A realization came to me. It was slow in coming, but it surely came. During the time of our marriage troubles, the Lord actually wanted to make some changes in my life, not just Rex’s life. I look back at that time and realize the absurdity of my thinking. How could I have been so deceived? But I surely was! The Holy Spirit stayed right there inside of me, nudging me closer to the Cross. The Lord wanted to make some changes in me, but was I willing? The question remained, was I willing to allow Jesus to manifest Himself […]
