During Easter, Christians all over the world turn their thoughts to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. By going to the cross, Jesus demonstrated in a most unselfish way the truth of His words: “Greater love has no man than he lay down his life for his brother.” Although laying aside our own desires, needs and agendas is difficult and often painful, we can only victory in our lives by taking up our crosses daily and dying to ourselves. Many lost hope when Jesus lay in the tomb; their hopes for victory over their enemies and a new way […]

As I was reviewing some old material I came across the following article written a few years ago. Some of you may remember it. I confess I wrote it in a light-hearted and joking manner – but as I reflected on it I realized that the “issues” outlined in the development of a “Stander’s App” are with us today as much as when the article first appeared. I hope reading or re-reading it brings you both a smile and some thoughtful introspection. Soon to be available for your iPhone or Android device – The Stander’s App!!! Why not? It seems […]

Endurance

Recently I have been writing on topics such as perseverance, opposition and vigilance. My thoughts this time have turned to endurance. According to one dictionary the definition of endurance is “the fact or power of enduring an unpleasant or difficult process or situation without giving way.” As I read that I was reminded of my days of U S Marine Corps boot camp and the physical and mental endurance it took to survive a few weeks of that program. The Merriam Webster dictionary definition of endurance is “the ability to withstand hardship or adversity; especially: the ability to sustain a […]

The message below is from Dolores Porter. She and her husband Lee had a restored marriage. What a blessing for Lee to thank Dolores for standing and taking him back. Each time they attended conference you could see that Lee adored Dolores. We are also thankful that God restored their marriage and that they had many years of marriage to enjoy their life together. This is a picture of their vows spoken at a CKI conference in Tulsa. Hi Carolyn, Yes, Lee passed on January 30th. It still feels very “raw.” He passed in his sleep. Although I know he’s […]

Prayer and Fasting

A Word from Nancy Since last Christmas the Lord has been reminding me of a great gift He had given us at the beginning of the CKI ministry years ago. I had been aware of it and still practicing it, as best I could, but hadn’t heard it mentioned in a long time. It’s fasting – and I do it every Wednesday. I remember years ago when my husband left, I couldn’t eat. Many of you can attest to that. Once I began to heal I continued to fast, in spite of three children and all their needs, working, running […]

Vigilance, Opposition and Perseverance

The Book of Nehemiah is a great book of the Bible for covenant keepers. It is a study of one man’s vision of what God wanted from him and the seemingly insurmountable obstacles to achieve that vision. It is a story of starting over, recovering from failure, winning favor with those in high places, overcoming shortages, enduring ridicule and lies, defying open hostility, winning cooperation from diverse groups and completing the vision. Nehemiah was a humble cup bearer (wine servant) to the King when he learned of the destruction of the walls of Jerusalem. He immediately spent several days in […]

I recently read a transcript of a radio broadcast from John Piper, founder and teacher of desiringGod.com. This transcript should pull on the heart-strings of every Covenant Keeper and keep one on the straight and narrow path of keeping covenant. The entire transcript can be found on John Piper’s website at this address: https://www.desiringgod.org/interviews/why-falling-out-of-love-never-justifies-divorce. • January 31, 2018

To God be all the glory and praise for uniting all our gifts, blessings and talents for His plans and purposes for our Northeast Yellow Ribbon Day. Ann Barley opened the meeting at Lancaster Bible College in Pennsylvania. She graciously greeted all attending and spoke about the college and the list of the day’s events. Claude Doucet and Bert John provided our worship songs. Nancy Conlan opened with a scripture reading (Philippians 3:14) about running the race for the goal to win the prize for which God has called us through Christ Jesus. She explained how we have both new runners […]

Perseverance

One definition of perseverance is given as “continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure or opposition.” Another describes it as “to finish what you start regardless of the obstacles that stand in the way.” Yet another definition states that perseverance is “not giving up.” Covenant Keeper standers are often viewed as being on display for everyone to watch and pass judgement on the quality of their perseverance. As leaders in the ministry effort we often feel that we are being watched and judged for our level of perseverance, too. Each of us could give examples of the […]
